Detroit - WIN! Our First Away Tournament

Different Strokes Hits the Road—and Brings Home the Win!

On March 6, 2026, a group of Different Strokes members traveled from Chicago to the Motor City for our very first away tournament. We were excited to compete against the Black Ace of Metro Detroit and The Ohio Playerz, but what made the weekend truly special was the opportunity to strengthen friendships with our teammates and meet new players who share our love of pickleball.

After checking into our hotels on Friday, we headed to Greystone Pickleball Club in Auburn Hills, Michigan, for an evening practice session. The impressive facility features 17 indoor courts and provided the perfect setting to prepare for tournament play. Each participant was welcomed with a thoughtful gift bag, and after several hours of practice, laughter, and plenty of team photos, we returned to our hotels to rest up for the big day.

Saturday morning, March 7, began with breakfast arranged by Different Strokes at the host hotel before we made our way to the beautiful, state-of-the-art Northville Pickleball Club in Northville, Michigan.

The competition was fierce. Both Ohio and Detroit came ready to play, and every match was hard-fought. But Chicago rose to the challenge. Our team showed determination, sportsmanship, and heart, and in the end, we brought home the championship!

After a full day of exciting competition, everyone enjoyed a delicious meal prepared by a local catering company, giving us the chance to relax, celebrate our victory, and reflect on an unforgettable weekend.

Our first away tournament was about much more than winning. It was about building community, creating lasting memories, and representing Chicago with pride. We can't wait for the next road trip!
